Frequently Asked Questions
How do you charge for your teaching services?
I charge per hour and this is payable 48 hours before any confirmed lesson. Lessons are either payable on a weekly or monthly basis depending on preference. Payment can be made via bank transfer or Paypal.
Where do you hold your teaching sessions?
I can teach either in person or on line depending on location and preferences. Please note that I am unable to travel more than 1 mile, however pupils are welcome to attend my address if situated further away than this and prefer in person lessons.
Do you teach online lessons and what equipment/software will I need?
I do offer online lessons and for these you will need access to a computer or tablet. I can use Zoom, Skype, Face time or WhatsApp to support these lessons.
Do I need to buy any resources?
You may need to buy a few books along the way but I generally try to provide these myself if I can.
What levels of maths do you teach?
I teach KS2 and KS3 for new or existing pupils but KS4 for existing students or adults. I can also assist with 11+ exams and adult numeracy. I do not at this stage teach A level Maths. If you have a specific requirement not covered here please contact me to see if I can help.
What is the youngest pupil you will take?
Each child is different but I would say generally the optimum minimum starting age is between Year 2 and Year 3 (children aged about 6/7 years and 7/8 years respectively ).
How many hours a week will my child need?
In my experience most children do well on 1 hour of extra formal tuition and some age appropriate daily reinforcement activities. I set these activities to be completed independently however some younger clients may need encouragement to complete these tasks. They are age dependent and appropriate but are an essential part of my tuition. I estimate that these activities should take between 10 and 15minutes per day.
